I think that this is partly due to visual effects. When I just joined the project during the pre-derivative, it was a conversation with a character in a full 3D model, obviously rude, but it was like we are doing this, we are no longer isometric. We are going to bring the camera closer. And this is a big adventure for two reasons.

But we also did not want to make a kinematographic role -playing game, if this would mean a rejection of Larian role -playing, so it was necessary to do both. And Larian General Director Sven Vinka often says this: no compromise. You still need all systems. But the dialogs suddenly became much more expensive. But what does it give us – the game looks great. The characters look more alive because we are next to them. Cinematographic art, art characters – all this is just great.

Previously, Smith has already described Baldur’s Gate 3 as a project built on the shoulders of giants, in particular, the legendary CRPG series from Bioware.

We saw an insanely good cast, and they worked on the game for so long that we already knew this world. Many members of the cast, those who performed the roles of characters’ companions worked on the game for years, like us. From the point of view of acting, this is similar to a television show and several seasons, when they returned and now we are making a second act, now we are making a third act, we return and redo these fragments or add additional fragments. They also live and breathe these characters. I think that all this together is what looks attractive and sounds attractive. It’s nice that I talked with people who said: "I have never played such a game before, it’s really cool", And it’s great. Because we did not want to make a game that only 5% of people will like. We believe that role -playing games are very important. They are the cornerstone of gameplay. Therefore, we always believed that we would find our audience.
